Individual tuition programs

Our curriculum-linked programs are designed by experts to deliver the results your child needs (catch-up, extension or exam prep), while also building confidence and increasing love of learning. We teach children aged 5 to 16 and regular reports show how your child is improving. Every student has an individualised program and works towards agreed personal goals. Results are celebrated.

Maths tutoring

Effective and engaging maths tuition will ensure your child has the numeracy knowledge and thinking skills required for improved maths performance. We help children who struggle with maths, as well as those who are gifted.

English tutoring

Whether your child is a reluctant reader and writer or an aspiring novelist, we can prescribe a needs-based English tuition programme. Our tutoring complements schoolwork and follows the Australian curriculum.

Meet the Manager: Monalee Mata

Monalee Balwyn

Hi, I am Monalee Mata, the manager at NumberWorks'nWords Balwyn. I have been teaching for the past twenty years and find it most rewarding. Seeing the students grow into independent, resilient learners and being a part of that journey is simply amazing. I am also a mother to a boy with ASD, which is why I am most passionate about finding ways for students to overcome their challenges, to engage them in their learning, support them to reach their goals and empower them to thrive. I also believe that teamwork and a strong partnership with students' families are vital to learning progress.

I look forward to chatting with you or, better yet, seeing you at our Balwyn centre so we can begin our learning journey to success.

The teaching staff at Balwyn are friendly, encouraging, and positive. My grandson’s maths level has progressed from weak to a standard that enables him to participate in a higher maths level within his year 6 class at his primary school. The regular feedback each term outlines his progress throughout the term, reflecting on weaker aspects of his maths, areas to keep working on at home, strengths, and work that will be coming up next. My grandson’s enjoyment of maths has increased along with his self-esteem and confidence in his ability.

Prior to attending NumberWorks'nWords, my daughter 'hated' maths. Now, she loves it - a massive turn around which I'm sure will make an enormous difference for the rest of her life. I would highly recommend Naomi and NumberWorks'nWords to anyone.

— D. Campbell

Very professional team. Mona who manages the place is a lovely teacher. She understands the child's needs and customises the coaching accordingly. My little one always looks forward to the class.

— S. Swam

Naomi and her team are always accommodating of our busy family schedule and will always chase us down to provide updates and my children’s progress.

NumberWorks'nWords has been a wonderful program for my kids. It is tailored specifically to each child's needs. One child is given the extra help and time they need to learn while the other is introduced to new concepts in advance and able to accelerate their learning. It is also a fun learning environment so the kids are very happy to attend.

NumberWorks'nWords has helped my son immensely with his math and English. He is more confident after attending NumberWorks'nWords and he's looking forward to going to class each week.

— N. Anh

In the 2 years, my son has attended NumberWorks'nWords, his confidence in doing Math tasks has grown exponentially. He is less scared if he doesn't know how to do an equation. And I think this has to do with being given strategies on how to approach a problem. Making the lesson fun is also a big factor. So kudos to Naomi and her team.

— R. Chan

NumberWorks'nWords helped supplement my children's academic education. My children enjoyed learning from their tutors at NumberWorks'nWords, who were able to make learning fun and build a rapport with them. They transitioned well to online learning during lockdowns.
